King Fish With Bob Weir - Minglewood Blues - Live At Calderone Concert Hall, Hempstead, NY 27th March 1976

King Fish With Bob Weir - Minglewood Blues - Live At Calderone Concert Hall, Hempstead, NY 27th March 1976 - 2015

Kingfish was fundamentally different to the more celebrated bands that Bob Weir and Dave Torbert hailed from. They clearly dug deep into their mutual love of American roots music to fashion a repertoire that established Kingfish as its own entity. The setlist performed here reflects the soul of their repertoire and finds Weir enjoying a brief sojourn from his obligations with the Grateful Dead while they took a well-earned break. As for Bob Weir, nobody was really sure what a hiatus for the Dead meant, and Kingfish could have blossomed if the Dead had remained on the bricks, but Weir

had a fantastic few hundred hours jamming with friends as this performance easily shows. Klondike proudly presents the entire original WLIR-FM broadcast of Bob Weir with Kingfish live at Calderone Concert Hall, Hempstead, NY from 27th March 1976. Professionally re-mastered original broadcast with background liners and rare archival photos! An exceptional celebration of the American songbook and a valuable addition for fans of NRPS and Grateful Dead.

J.D. SIMO - The Other Side Of Me

J.D. SIMO - The Other Side Of Me - 2004

from wikipedia
Simo grew up in Chicago. He began playing guitar at the age of five. By age 15, Simo had already formed a band and released a live EP recorded in Phoenix Arizona, which sold 5,000 copies. He quickly earned a strong local following in the Phoenix area, pleasing crowds of all ages with dynamic stage performances that showcased his guitar skills. He spent most of his teenage years touring, either in his own solo endeavors or in various other bands.

In the winter of 2006 he moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he established himself as the lead guitarist in the Don Kelley Band. This led to Simo's employment as an in-demand session musician. Simo continued to play in this capacity until 2011.

In the beginning of 2010, he joined bassist Frank Swart and drummer Adam Abrashoff to form the rock band SIMO. They spent much of 2011 on tour and released their debut album in November. They closed out the year with a homecoming show at The Basement in Nashville, the site of their first show. Sundazed Records released a vinyl single of Shake It/AoH off their debut album on January 25, 2013. SIMO was featured at several festivals including Mountain Jam and Bonnaroo in the summer of 2013.

Simo maintains an online blog, featuring videos of his playing style as well as information about vintage music equipment. In addition, Simo often films promotional videos for Carter Vintage Guitars in Nashville, Tennessee.

Gordon Haskell - Hambledon Hill

Gordon Haskell - Hambledon Hill - 1990

Gordon Haskell is an English musician and songwriter. A pop, rock and blues vocalist, guitarist, and bassist, he was a school friend of King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp, the two first working together in Fripp's mid-1960s teenage group The League of Gentlemen (not to be confused with Fripp's later new wave beat band). Haskell first gained recognition as bass player for the British band Les Fleur de Lys, and subsequently spent a short period in King Crimson, singing one of the songs on their second album and both singing and playing bass on their third album. After departing from King Crimson, he continued his musical career as a solo musician, finally gaining international recognition in 2001 with his hit song How Wonderful You Are.

Jess Roden And The Humans - Jess Roden And The Humans

Jess Roden And The Humans - Jess Roden And The Humans - 1995

Singer/guitarist Jess Roden was born in Kidderminster in England's West Midlands, and his first band was the Shakedown Sounds. In 1967, he joined the Alan Bown Set as their new lead singer. Although their records never charted nationally, he did pick up a fandom in London (and belatedly became something of a star on the Northern Soul scene) with the release of their single "Emergency 999." He remained with the Bown group through 1970, after which he formed the band Bronco, and later worked on Wildlife, the third Mott the Hoople album, and with Keef Hartley on the album Lancashire Hustler. In the mid-'70s, he teamed up with ex-Doors John Densmore and Robby Krieger in the Butts Band, and sang on their first album. Roden finally emerged as a solo artist in his own right in the mid-'70s on Island Records, with his 1974 self-titled solo album, which was cut in New Orleans and included Allen Toussaint and Art Neville on keyboards. His albums throughout the '70s got great reviews but he never saw any significant sales; in between his own work, he managed to sing and play on albums by Carol Grimes, Jim Capaldi, Stomu Yamashta, Sandy Denny, and Grace Jones. He was with the group Rivits on Island for one album at the outset of the '80s.

Delaney Bramlett - Giving Birth To A Song (Re-Re-Post)

Delaney Bramlett - Giving Birth To A Song - 1975

by William Ruhlmann for Allmusic.com
Although his popularity was often eclipsed by the artists he mentored, Delaney Bramlett was an accomplished guitarist and singer/songwriter whose style influenced the likes of Eric Clapton, J.J. Cale, and Duane Allman. A native of Pontotoc, MS, he served time in the U.S. Navy before moving to Los Angeles in 1959. He soon became a member of the Shindogs, the resident band on the TV show Shindig. Such a job allowed Bramlett to rub shoulders with other notable musicians, and in 1967 he met Bonnie Lynn O'Farrell, a member of Ike & Tina Turner's backup group the Ikettes. The two were married within five days; they also formed a duo named Delaney & Bonnie. Read More HERE

1975's Jimmy Bowen produced "Giving Birth To A Song" marked Delaney Bramlett's third solo album (and his third label in as many years).  Credited as 'Delaney and Blue Diamond' the album found Bramlett returning to the confines of a full fledged band.  Musically the set wasn't a major departure from his standing soul/rock moves.

Archie Brown - Elysian Fields

Archie Brown - Elysian Fields - 2015

The band is formed in Newcastle by Pat Rafferty and Tony Wadsworth. First gig is the University Fine Art Dept Xmas Party. Still without a name, inspiration comes from Bogart's “Key Largo” - “I’m looking for a couple of young bucks in fancy shirts who busted out of prison”.

Band is instantly popular. John Glynn moves to London and joins proto punks ‘X Ray Spex’. His replacement is Archie Brown, sax player and songwriter with local band ‘Pylon’. Band starts playing Monday nights at the “Cooperage” which is sold out for the next two years. Summer ’77 Tim Wilder is replaced by Seb Shelton.
