Between the drifty Cajun rock songs and the thunderous blues numbers, 'Act Of Faith' exhibits bawdy New Orleans funk ('15% Extra') and country/zydeco ('Got Me Where You Want Me') with just the right amount of swing. 'Act of Faith' includes the song 'DJ Blues', the first ever recorded duet of the Jagger brothers, and on 'Junkman' Pink Floyd's David Gilmour shines with acutely atmospheric guitar play.

Michigan Rain is the debut album from Gregg Alexander, released in 1989. The album was originally supposed to be titled "Save Me from Myself", but the title was changed at the last minute, because, as Alexander explained, "the cover was me standing on a bridge with a broken mirror on my wrist and it was before the suicide chic thing." In The Neighborhood was released as a single, backed with Don't Cry, Mrs. Davis.

"Michigan Rain" was later rerecorded for his 1992 album Intoxifornication. The album also featured an extended mix of Save Me From Myself, and identically reprised tracks "Loving You Sets Me Free", "Cruel With Me" and "The World We Love So Much".

The album was not very successful on release, being a minor hit in Italy. Despite Alexander's later success with New Radicals, Michigan Rain was taken out of print when he was dropped from A&M, and has long been rare and out of print. It is also the only one of his albums to have been released on vinyl, though CD and cassette versions were also produced.

Heart Songs is an album comprised of songs about love and played directly from the hearts of Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles. The two CGP’s took some of their favorite classic songs about love and rearranged them into something really special. On the guitar, Emmanuel got to emulate some of his favorite singers like Hank Williams, Michael McDonald, Billy Joel, and Bonnie Raitt. There are Broadway numbers like “Somewhere" from West Side Story and "Where Is Love" from Oliver!. There are also some original songs like "After Paris" by Knowles and "Eva Waits” by Emmanuel. 

Recorded at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles, Heart Songs features arrangements of Hank Williams’ "Cold, Cold Heart,"  the Bee Gees’ "How Deep Is Your Love," Billy Joel’s "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)" and Michael McDonald’s "I Can Let Go Now" among its 14 tracks.

Said McDonald about the cover of “I Can Let Go Now,” "To hear a master like Tommy Emmanuel interpret any song is a joyous and emotional experience to say the least. To hear such a master perform one of your own compositions is the experience of a lifetime. One for which I'll be forever be grateful."

Said Emmanuel about the album, "A 'heart song' is really a love song. Love has many facets—love of family, romantic love. So we started there and then looked for melodies that could be played with heart."

Added Knowles, "And we tried to choose songs that people have heard. So that when they hear them, even though we're not singing or they may not know all the words, they have a connection to these songs in their own hearts."

Regarding their playing on the album, Emmanuel said, "It was a wakeup call to not overplay, to be respectful and serve the music properly.”

“When you're being respectful to the melody, you're also respecting the listener's previous experience with that song," said Knowles. "We play into their expectations while at the same time surprising them now and then."

Steve Ellis first began singing in a band at the age of 15. The band were called Soul Survivors, initially gate crashing weddings, youth clubs and barmitzva`s in north London on the pretence that they were booked to perform. When the band improved substantially they began to play venues such as The Marquee, The Flamingo, Tiles and Mod clubs in Brighton, Clacton and Soul clubs in Manchester, Stoke etc.

After the bands first release on Decca Records, they moved on to CBS and became one of the most successful British pop acts of the late `60s, under their new name "Love Affair", and had a string of hit records.
