Depois do fechamento do megaupload, a grande maioria dos links deste blog estavam funcionando por exclusiva culpa do depositfiles e apenas os posts bem antigos estavam inativos.

Agora, por esses dias, quem resolveu sumir foi o multiupload. Assim, até os posts mais novos deapareceram, o que fez com o que o blog ficasse tecnicamente morto, com somente suas últimas postagens vivas. Ora, para que serve um blog para download de música sem links? Não serve absolutamente para coisa alguma.

Dessa forma, convencido após um litro de black label, iniciei a repostagem dos posts mais novos que - teoricamente - devam ser os mais visitados atualmente. Parte dos feitos em janeiro e a totalidade dos de fevereiro/2012 nada sofreram, porque foram upados pelo mirrocreator.

Nessa primeira leva foram atualizados os links das postagens originalmente realizadas em dezembro/2011 e a parte de janeiro/2012 levantados pelo finado multiupload. Ficou de fora apenas o do JuanMartin - Solo e que não será repostado, por questão de foro íntimo.

Os novos links encontram-se na seção "new links" no topo do site. Se preferir, voce pode conseguir o novo link também nos comentários da postagem original.

Se tudo correr como o planejado, pretendo incrementar estas atualizações quase que diariamente.

Hugh Burns is a guitarist and a composer with an international reputation for excellence. He has played on many pop and rock recordings including George Michael's Faith and Careless Whisper, Paul McCartney's and Michael Jackson's Pipes of Peace and Scott Walker's Drift. As a studio guitarist, he has also played on many film soundtracks including The Full Monty, Die Another Day, Don Quixote, Tristen and Isolda and An Unfinished Life. He has written music for television documentaries and films and published two guitar instruction books.

Hugh Burns is an artist noted for his exceptional ability as both a composer and guitarist. He has gained an international reputation for excellence, having played in over thirty countries working with artists including: Astrid Gilberto, Oliver Nelson, Elvin Jones, Henry Mancini and on George Michael's Songs from the Last Century. Soundtrack credits include: Twelve Monkeys, Moulin Rouge, Stealing Beauty and the Grammy award-winning Full Monty amongst many others.

After completing the first album with Hugh, 'Dedication' in 1996, I remained totally impressed by Hugh's extraordinary skill with the nylon strung guitar. (As widely heard on the George Michael 'careless whisper' song)

The idea for this album was to produce a recording based on ideas improvised on the acoustic guitar. A Mindwash between the courses of other musical styles, and what I consider a valuable alternative to the manufactured dross that forms the chart best sellers.

Over a one year period Hugh and I would meet over a cappuccino at the Cafe Rouge in Esher, where we would brainstorm an idea before driving down to the studio in Ripley. Once there - with a variety of Hugh's excellent guitars, and with a selection of top quality microphones, we would record hours of improvised parts.

Out of the nine or so hours of material recorded, I edited the best hour in a working context, and this became the album.

The engineer for most of the sessions was Robin Black. The designer was Stuart Catterson.

Highlights of this period for me are hard to specify as working with Hugh is always a pleasure, and being around the sound of such beautiful instruments is never a bad thing. There was a special thrill in hearing Hugh interpret a guitar piece I had written, which appears on the album as 'Hearts'.

Guitarist Robbie McIntosh has fine-tuned himself as a desired sessions musician, and his long tenure playing alongside Paul McCartney (Flowers in the Dirt and Off the Ground; Tripping the Live Fantastic, Unplugged and Paul is Live) and the Pretenders has established such notoriety. He has also rendered music with Dutch sax phenomenon Candy Dulfer, Joe Cocker, Phil Collins, Annie Lennox, and Carl Perkins, and McIntosh's expansive career hails back to the early '80s. He is classically trained, an acoustic perfectionist, and, aside from his collaborative work, Robbie McIntosh has maintained a low-profile, yet distinguished solo career. The Robbie McIntosh Band released Emotional Bends in early 2000, and followed up with Unsung later that fall. Wide Screen appeared in spring 2001.

Along with his knack for producing some of the most ground-breaking, timeless music of the last half century, one of Paul McCartney's greatest strengths is his aptitude for surrounding himself with good musicians. Apart from the obvious trio of fellow Beatles and those who comprised the three line-ups of Wings, not to mention such notable artists as Elvis Costello, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett and Michael Jackson, Paul has managed to write, record and perform his way through the last five decades with a bunch of top-notch side-men.

Rusty Anderson has been standing with his guitar to the left of Paul since 2001 when he was asked to play on DRIVING RAIN – an often overlooked McCartney album, but one that laid the foundation for the last very successful ten years of Paul's career. Rusty, along with drummer Abe Laboriel Jr, guitarist Brian Ray and long-time McCartney keyboardist Paul 'Wix' Wickens, has been touring with McCartney ever since and, as recently as December 2011, could be seen providing the lead guitar to some of Paul's best-loved songs live on stage.

Despite the busy schedule imposed by his ex-Beatle boss, Rusty has managed to produce a steady stream of highly melodic, lyrically-strong rock songs; the recordings of which sitting equally as comfortable in the ears as some of Macca's recent gems. And, thanks to the nice folks at Hypertension, 2012 sees the release of a twelve-track compilation of Rusty's best songs from his two solo albums, Undessing Under Water (2003) and Born on Earth (2009).

Until We Meet Again opens with the brilliant, radio-friendly Hurt Myself – featuring Sir Paul on bass. A pleaser for fans of the title-track of Paul's Driving Rain, Hurt Myself possesses all the hallmarks of the finely-crafted, guitar-driven pop songs of such artists as R.E.M. and Ryan Adams. As uplifting as Penny Lane (the famous piccolo trumpet replaced, here, with a flugel horn), Hurt Myself is a fitting, upbeat opener for a collection that never seems to wane.

Henry McCullough was one of the busier guitarists in England during the 1970s, and has played alongside such stars and superstars as Joe Cocker and Paul McCartney. Born in Portstewart, Northern Ireland in 1943, he took up the guitar as a boy and was playing in the Irish show band the Skyrockets in the mid-'60s. After a few years of playing dancehalls, he decided to move his career to the next phase -- he'd met three other players, Ernie Graham (guitar/vocals), Chris Stewart (bass), and Dave Lutton (drums), from a show band called Gene & the Gents, and together they formed the People, later renamed Eire Apparent. Their sound was a mix of blues, pop, and psychedelia, with a commercial and virtuoso edge to the playing and singing. They jumped into the big time after a move to London and being signed by Chas Chandler and Mike Jeffery, the managers of Jimi Hendrix -- from obscurity, they were suddenly thrust into Hendrix's orbit, touring England and then America in support of the legendary guitarist.

Gayle McCormick was born in St. Louis on the 26th of November 1948. Gayle attended Pattonville High in St. Louis and sang high soprano with the Suburb Choir, a 150-voice unit that performed annually with the St. Louis Symphony. Her recording and performing career stretched from 1965 to 1976. McCormick had started her career singing songs by Tina Turner and Etta James.

In 1969 Smith was formed in Los Angeles, California, their first album entitled "A Group Called Smith," featured Gayle McCormick as the primary vocalist. Smith mainly played and recorded covers of pop and soul songs and made the top ten with a remake of "Baby It's You", a previous hit for The Shirelles, was also featured in Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse film Death Proof.

After the group disbanded, McCormick went on to record three solo albums. In the fall of 1971, her performance of "It's A Cryin' Shame" charted at #44.

Few may have heard of singer Sugaree but they are very likely to have heard of her father, legendary singer-songwriter Leon Russell, on whose label Sugaree’s debut has been released.

Though that fact smacks of nepotistic opportunism, saying so outright would only be permissible if the album was a dud. Truth is, The American Dream is something of a pop gem – a contemporary album that is a million miles from the country-blues music of her father. A short album at just over thirty minutes, it mixes different genres – rock, pop and R&B – with an electro-dance vibe that pulls all its disparate references into a coherent, if sometimes samey, sound.

The album starts off very strongly with the title track’s bombastic opening synth-strings, guitars and bass, above which Sugaree takes time to admonish American consumerism. The exotic sonic palette of ‘Beautiful’ underpins strong melodies and vocals, her voice immediately recalling to mind Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie, and has a chorus hook that could pay commercial dividends given the right break.

Elsewhere, ‘Is This War (A Love Song)’ is all cabaret and tribal beats, ‘Lying Down’ is filled with stadium drums and caterwauling vocals that could have been pulled from a Shakira album, while ‘One More Time’, ‘Personal Stranger’ and ‘Simple Solution’ are well-written contemporary pop songs.

The Bureau were a New Wave soul group formed in late 1980 in Birmingham, England, when the original lineup of Dexys Midnight Runners split-up.

Ex-Dexy's members Pete Williams, Geoff Blythe, Steve Spooner, Stoker and Mick Talbot were joined by Paul Taylo, Rob Jones and Archie Brown from a group called The Upset, which had supported Dexy's on tour. The Bureau retained their Dexy's roots and played powerful brass driven sounds.

The debut single, "Only For Sheep", was a hit in Australia, reaching #6], but failed to reach the UK Singles Chart - as did the follow up single "Let Him Have It", inspired by the Derek Bentley / Christopher Craig case. An eponymously titled album was released in 1981, but only in Canada and Australia, and the band members went their separate ways soon afterwards. The album was finally released in the UK in 2005, and the band reunited to play two launch gigs in London and Birmingham in February that year.

In 1977, ex-Love Affair singer Ellis recorded an album called The Last Angry Man with producers Tony Meehan and Dave Courtney. When Meehan and Courtney had a dispute, the album was withdrawn, although some cassette copies were issued by Ariola briefly in 1978. This CD marked the first time the album was widely available, with the addition of seven previously unreleased bonus tracks recorded in 1983.

Ellis was in the tradition of British rock/soul/blues belters such as Steve Marriott (his closest vocal counterpart) and Rod Stewart, and there are also traces of Robert Plant and Van Morrison. He was not nearly in the same league as any of those singers, mind you, but he was OK. A couple of name guitarists (Albert Lee and Henry McCulloch) contributed to the sessions on The Last Angry Man, which yielded average though unobjectionable mainstream late-'70s rock with shades of folk-rock, mellow singer/songwriting, blue-eyed soul, and hard rock riffing.

The seven 1983 songs (subtitled as the Basement Days portion of this disc) are again generic 1970s-type British rock, though the material is weaker, and the style by this time not at all in sync with what was either hip or commercial. The most interesting aspects of this archival release, to be honest, are the thorough liner notes, which cover Ellis' entire career dating back to the Love Affair days

After redefining electric guitar during his tenure in The Yardbirds, numerous outstanding permutations of The Jeff Beck Group, and a brief experiment with ex-Vanilla Fudge/Cactus alumni in Beck, Bogart & Appice, Jeff Beck disappeared from the public eye. When he returned in 1975 with his new album, Blow By Blow, it was immediately apparent that Beck was taking an entirely different approach. The album, produced by the legendary George Martin at his AIR Studios, was strictly an instrumental affair with the music clearly heading in a jazz-fusion direction. The results were nothing short of spectacular, gaining Beck a new legion of fans, and Blow By Blow would sail up the charts, soon to become one of the best selling instrumental albums of all time.

When Beck took this exciting new material on the road, he assembled a stellar new quartet featuring the outstanding rhythm section of bassist Wilbur Bascomb and drummer Bernard Purdie. He wisely retained the services of keyboardist Max Middleton, the only mainstay from his previous groups. Middleton's jazzy keyboard parts complimented much of Beck's finest work from the early 1970s, and in this new band he inspired Beck to reach new levels of sophistication. Beck's explorations into this new genre of music were immediately distinctive and would in retrospect prove to be the commercial peak of a long and illustrious career. This recording, from when Jeff Beck and The Mahavishnu Orchestra took to the road together, captures this new era perfectly. Much of the Blow By Blow album is here when it was fresh and new. Even when Beck dips back into his catalogue, older songs are given an altogether new instrumental treatment, bringing out delightful nuances and making them entirely new experiences.

This set, recorded at St. Louis' Ambassador Theater (St. Louis, MO / may , 11, 1975), was the final night of the first leg of the North American Blow By Blow Tour, when both Jeff Beck and John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra toured the continent together, providing audiences with a remarkable double bill of cutting edge jazz/rock fusion. Although not without a few dropouts on the master cassette, this recording captures Beck and one of his most revered bands at a peak moment in time. Following this performance, Beck would return to England for two weeks before embarking on the second leg of the tour at the end of the month.

Alastair Greene is a guitarist/singer/songwriter based out of Santa Barbara California who plays blues and blues influenced rock much in the same vein as Gov't Mule, Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Allman Brothers Band, etc,..

He has performed and/or recorded with a number of California and International artists over the years including: Alan Parsons, Mark Karan (Ratdog), Jeff Pevar (CSN), Aynsley Dunbar, Frank Goldwasser, The Pontiax, Wally Ingram, Seymour Duncan and Mitch Kashmar to name a few. His first full length album under his own name entitled "A Little Wiser" was released in late in 2001. The Alastair Greene Band has shared the stage with such artists as John Mayall And The Bluesbreakers, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Mike Campbell's Dirty Knobs, Billy Boy Arnold, Lonnie Brooks, Jonny Lang, Junior Brown, Lucky Peterson and Robin Trower.

This is a LIVE CD from Winter of 2002 recorded direct to CD from the mixing board at an LA Club.

Some might recall musician Gary Wright from his several hit songs of the '70s and '80s, including the classic "Dream Weaver." His distinctive vocals and visionary use of keyboards to create a mood were definitive trademarks of his sound. For the '90s, Wright has embellished that sound with the addition of invigorating guitar with African and Brazilian influences. The musicianship here is impressive, supplied by Wright again on keyboards and vocals, and guest musicians Terry Bozzio on drums, Ricardo Silveria on guitar, and even George Harrison on backup vocals. The newly composed original material blends Brazilian percussion with African choral music to create an infectious worldbeat hybrid, and the musicians' performances radiate sincerity and joy.

Ghost Rhymes is the third release from David Lewis, who has been producing collections of melodic and gently reflective songs since the late 1980's. Lewis, who is based in West London, has been described as ‘a writer and singer worth getting to know’ (Sing Out!), his work as ‘smart song-craft’ (CD Now). Writing within a modern British folk tradition with strong roots in the 60s and 70s (Sandy Denny, Robin Williamson, Al Stewart, Donovan), Lewis’s songs may draw from past folk traditions, but they aim to present a contemporary respite from modern uncertainties. Co-produced by long-time collaborator John Wesley Harding, Ghost Rhymes features Harding and a host of other talented musicians.

Ghost Rhymes was recorded in Seattle, San Francisco and Harpenden, UK and it features 13 new songs (three co-written with Harding). “Water From the Well” and “Trying to Remember A Dream” feature a full folk-rock band sound, while songs such as “Waterwheel”, “Fever Dream”, “Something Real” and the title track explore a range of acoustic finger-picking styles and tunings.

There’s the Yardbirds’ family tree, and then there’s the Yardbirds’ family tree, and in terms of having something fresh to listen to, one is a lot more enjoyable than the other. John Mayall, Cream, the Jeff Beck Group, Led Zeppelin – whatever is left to be said about the monsters that once took flight from the Yardbirds’ nest? But step away from the antics of a few smart guitar slingers, and there’s an underground swirling around the band’s other members that rarely sees the daylight it deserves.

In fairness, this is less a Family Tree collection, than an anthology of Jim McCarty’s more recent, extra-curricular activities. The British Invasion All-Stars, the Yardbirds Experience and, of course, the Jim McCarty Band are the dominant names here, together with a clutch of McCarty-less highlights from the Ambulators’ tribute to ‘birds mentor Sonny Boy Williamson. Likewise, the 19 tracks turn up a mere handful of established Yardbirds classics (“Shapes Of Things,” of course, kicks it all off), preferring to mine the entire British beat repertoire of bluesy classics, R&B stompers and proto-rock howlers.

The line-up across the four acts is phenomenal – Don Craine, Phil May, Dick Taylor, Eddie Phillips, Mick Green, Matthew Fisher, Ray Majors, Mick Avory, Dave Walker … and that’s just the names that your pet goldfish would recognize. Noel Redding leads one aggregation across a dynamic “Jimi Hendrix Trilogy”; Pete French (ex-Cactus) fronts another through an incendiary “Wang Dang Doodle” and a Cream-stopping “Sitting On Top Of The World.” (Both tracks, incidentally, are previously unreleased.)

There’s no weak moments, no awkward segues, no annoying lapses. From start to finish, Birds of a Feather blazes as brightly as the blues should burn, and rocks with all the passion that the Yardbirds themselves made their own. Others among the band’s hatchlings may grab all the headlines, and make all the noise. But when it comes to actually playing the music, and making it matter, this is Year Zero.

The British Invasion All-Stars are a 21st century band with a '60s sound, which isn't surprising because all of its members are veteran rockers who belonged to various '60s bands (some more prominent than others). In rock circles, the term British Invasion is used to describe the wave of British rock bands that made its presence felt in the '60s. Rock was born in the United States, but when the Beatles and many other British acts hit big in the '60s, it was clear that England had become a major player in the rock & roll field.

Formed in 2001, the British Invasion All-Stars boasts former-Yardbird Jim McCarty on drums and lead vocals, ex-Procol Harum member Matthew Fisher on electric Hammond organ, and Eddie Phillips (formerly of the Creation) on lead guitar. The three other members are Ray Phillips, of the Nashville Teens fame, on lead vocals, and two ex-members of the Downliners Sect: rhythm guitarist Don Craine and bassist Keith Grand (who contributes background vocals and shares the lead vocals with Phillips and McCarty). The British Invasion All-Stars' self-titled debut album, which was released on the independent Mooreland Street label in 2002, shows no awareness of the alternative rock sounds of the early 2000s; the band is totally unaffected by any of the punk, new wave, post-punk, pop-metal, or alternative rock that came after the '60s. From covers of well-known songs by the Yardbirds ("Shapes of Things") and the Who ("Shakin' All Over"), to new material, everything on the British Invasion All-Stars' first album is unapologetically '60s-minded. The CD boasts several guest musicians who have strong '60s credentials, including bassist Noel Redding (who was one-third of the Jimi Hendrix Experience) and two ex-members of the Pretty Things: Dick Taylor and Phil May.

This self-titled debut album by the British Invasion All-Stars was released in 2002, but if you didn't know better, you might assume that it was recorded in the mid- to late '60s. That's because their music is a celebration of '60s British Invasion rock, and all of them know a lot about that subject - they were members of bands like the Yardbirds, Procol Harum, and the Nashville Teens. All of the material sounds dated, and that is true of new songs (including the moody "Heavy Weather") as well as covers of '60s hits like the Yardbirds' "Shapes of Things," the Who's "Shakin' All Over," and Booker T. & the M.G.'s "Green Onions" (which ends up with a British blues-rock outlook rather than a Stax/Volt outlook). Even the production sounds dated; if producer/arranger Mike Ober wanted to make this CD as '60s-sounding as possible, he accomplished his goal. But dated isn't necessarily a bad thing if you are a die-hard fan of a particular era; in fact, it can actually be a plus. And for fans of '60s British Invasion rock, this release is dated in a good sense - dated as in being an enjoyable celebration of an era that gave fans great bands like the Beatles, the Yardbirds, the Zombies, the Who, and the Kinks. The British Invasion All-Stars' performances fall short of mind-blowing; none of their covers are superior to the original versions. But the album is generally decent, and it is worth hearing if you are a serious admirer of '60s rock.

The band formed in 1965 by the remaining members of Denny & the Triumphs after George Larvick, Jr. replaced bassist Denny Foote. The band were managed by George Larvick, Sr., father of band members Brad and George, Jr. George, Sr. did the bookings and drove the bands to gigs in a van with “Patch of Blue” painted on the side.

George, Sr. was impressed with the 13-year-old Tommy’s playing. Whenever he went to pick Tommy up at the Bolin’s home to take him to rehearsal or a show he almost always found him by his phonograph with a guitar, working on learning a new tune. The whole band was very good in spite of their young ages it was a tightly run ship and show, which also help contribute to Tommy’s rapid development in terms of both playing and ease on stage.

They band played a mix of rock & roll, R&B and pop hits such as “In the Midnight Hour,” “Heat Wave” and “Got My Mojo Working.” While George, Sr. enjoyed Tommy’s playing, he has related that he would have to tell Tommy to turn down sometimes. He didn’t feel that Tommy was trying to drown everybody out, but that Tommy felt that what he was playing was good and he wanted the details to be heard.

NB: Esse disco é parte integrante do box set "Tommy Bollin Fever" com 15 cds que registram Tommy em diversos momentos (shows, jams, outakes, etc) e que foi realizado por seu fan club no ano de 1995. Custa a bagatela de 500 dólares. A qualidade do som não é lá grandes coisas, mas vale a pena pelo registro histórico em mais de 1h15 de som.

Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear, back when Country Joe and the Fish sang from the back of flatbed trucks to legions of anti-war demonstrators in Berkeley and in San Francisco, providing a heady mix of smart-ass rebellion tinged with apocalyptic fears and acid-addled visions of “Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine.” Other than Country Joe himself, Barry Melton was the big fish in that band, a group more idealistic and studiously dedicated to political action than some others who would ride what was then known as “the counterculture” to fame and fortune. Melton kept the faith, working as a public defender while continuing to explore music, performing all over the world with his own band, and never losing his commitment to social justice and working for a better world. Here, on an album he made with guitarist Stephan Missri, Melton provides a sampling of what international psychedelia sounds like in the 21st century, performed by a guy who helped launch the genre, ably assisted here by Missri, an Algerian-born Parisian who brings his own magic to this party. Melton, Missri and friends create a musical plea to save the planet, with lyrics sung in French and English, backed by lots of kaleidoscopically rippling guitar riffs. Music like this no longer holds the power to “blow your mind,” but it might ramp up your consciousness just a tad.

The Steve Gibbons Band were causing a stir across the UK in the 70's when Pete Townshend discovered and mentored them leading to a recording deal with Polydor and touring the World with The Who for 3 years.

They had a UK Top 10 hit with "Tulane" and recorded 4 albums for Polydor and even Roger Daltrey covered "One of the Boys" for his solo album.

Eric Schenkman left the Spin Doctors following the dismal performance of their second album Turn It Upside Down in 1994. He drifted for a few years, playing the occasional session, before returning in the pan-generation supergroup Cork in 1995. Essentially, Cork is simply Schenkman and former Mountain drummer Corky Laing, but for much of their debut album Speed of Thought, they're joined by bassist Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix Experience; whenever he doesn't appear, Schenkman handles the four strings. Cork apply jam band mentality to '70s hard rock. They turn up the volume, strengthen the attack, and make it blusey, while still concentrating on loose-limbed jams. The results are mixed, to say the least.

Steve Ellis will forever carry the millstone that is 'Everlasting Love'. It seems to crop up with worrying frequency on most of his albums, and on this new solo offering it is featured twice. Ageing rockers and pop pickers will recall that it was Ellis who fronted teen sensations Love Affair and scored a No.1 hit with that song in 1968.

Fortunately the two versions are different to the original, the live version recorded when Ellis was a guest at a Paul Weller gig in 2001 and featuring the Modfather on guitar.

Following a low-key career revival and spurred on by recent CD and DVD releases, this album is very good. Ellis not only has Weller guesting on a couple of studio tracks, including Weller's own composition, the opening track "Brand New Start", but he managed to pull in Roger Daltrey for a spot of harp blowing in "Nu Clear Blues" and "Yellow Rose Of Texas".

That's where big-name support ends, but with an excellent backup band and featuring two songs by newcomer Sam Smith, Ellis doesn't really need the bunk-up. Ellis' own songs are a mixture of nicely-styled pop-rock with blues and soul overtones.

Whilst an album like this will always remain niche with limited mass appeal, it is good to hear Ellis again. In general the songwriting and playing is top-draw and will appeal to ageing rockers and those for whom the letters AOR provoke unashamed anticipation.

This CD has been withdrawn from the market in 2008 and is replaced by "Best Of Days".

When Buddy Miles died on February 28th, 2008, it marked the passing of one of rock and roll's most flamboyant characters. Primarily known for his skill as a drummer, Buddy played with and for a who's who of rock and roll's elite as well as carving out a successful solo career as a band leader. Aside from the seventeen albums he recorded under his own name, he appeared on albums with Michael Bloomfield and Electric Flag, Gregg Allman, Carlos Santana (he was vocalist for Santana from 1979 - 84), and as the voice of the California Raisins.He is most famous though for his association with Jimi Hendrix.

He recorded a couple of songs with Jimi on Electric Ladyland, before becoming his permanent drummer in the Band Of Gypsies and recording the famous live New Year's Eve concert at Filmore East, Band Of Gypsies. Ironically his time with Jimi was limited to only a year before Jimi's management fired him. Billy still believes that the idea of an all black rock and roll band, Billy Cox was the bass player, made the record companies nervous at the time. They were probably scared it would have a negative impact on record sales.

O que eu fiz foi DELETAR todos os gadgets que não são fornecidos pelo google. Contadores, estatísticas e o caralho foram todos para a puta que o pariu.

Aliás, aproveitando que já tô muito puto, resolvi que irei fazer uma limpa nos PARCEIROS. Ficarão 2 tipos:

1) Aqueles parceiros de primeira hora, que adicionaram o blog quando ele estava nascendo, como os dois do meu parceiro Duga - que não se inclui no tipo 2 - e a galera do seres-da-noite.

2) Alguns poucos que realmente cumpre a função de trazer alguma visita. Não que esteja preocupado em ter 200 ou 2000 visitas por dias. Já passei dessa fase e sei que isso não significa feedback. Mas não vou pendurar blogs que não trazem UM (eu disse UM!) só visitante.

Os "excluídos", continuarão linkados na aba blogroll, inclusive aqueles que nos linkam apenas com o simples nome do blog. Àqueles que acharem que esse gesto inviabiliza a "parceria", fiquem a vontade para retirar o OGS, sem comprometimento da amizade.

Max Middleton is best known as the pianist in the second, most successful version of Jeff Beck Group. Middleton was trained as a classical pianist but also possessed a strong affinity for jazz, and had played in a band called Flare with Trinidad-born bassist Clive Chaman. His hook up with Beck came about in the spring of 1971, while the guitarist was rehearsing the lineup of his reconstituted band (including Chaman) and decided that he needed a pianist. At 20, Middleton was one of the youngest players on the early-'70s blues-rock scene, and his youth, coupled with his devotion to jazz, quickly made him a mainstay of Beck's group - his jazz piano was one of the more successful new elements introduced on the Rough and Ready album, and on the next LP, Jeff Beck Group, Middleton also wrote an outstanding instrumental track entitled "Definitely Maybe." Middleton was also the only member to make the jump from the second version of Jeff Beck Group to the third, which was really the prototypal Beck, Bogert & Appice, but he left before that trio had gotten far into their short-lived hook up. He passed through a group called Gonzales before rejoining Beck in 1974 - with other core members of Gonzales soon to follow - to collaborate with the guitarist on the instrumental Blow By Blow album, which became the top-selling LP of Beck's whole career, reaching number four on the American charts. Middleton also played clavinette on the Wired album that followed, after which he parted company with the guitarist.

Spencer David Nelson Davis is a British musician and multi-instrumentalist, and the founder of the 1960s rock band, the Spencer Davis Group.

In 1963, Davis went to a Birmingham public house to see Muff Woody, a traditional jazz band featuring Muff and Steve Winwood. Steve, only fifteen at the time, was already gaining notice for his musical abilities. Muff, five years older than his brother, was an accomplished jazz musician. When Davis saw the brothers' musical versatility, he knew he had found his band. He soon persuaded them to join him and drummer Pete York as the Rhythm and Blues Quartet. Davis performed on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Steve Winwood on guitar, organ and vocals, Muff Winwood on bass, and Pete York on drums. Playing mainly R&B covers, the band performed first at the Golden Eagle pub on Hill Street, but within a year they had landed a regular gig at The Marquee, and by 1964 had adopted the name The Spencer Davis Group. The group had No 1 hits in the UK with consecutive single releases in 1966 (Keep on Running and Somebody Help Me). Steve Winwood sang lead vocals on all the Spencer Davis Group's hits up to "I'm A Man" in 1967.

The Spencer Davis Group continued after Winwood left, to form Traffic in April 1967, and split in 1969. Another version of the group with Davis and York appeared in 1973 and disbanded in late 1974. Various incarnations of the band have toured in recent years, under Davis' direction.

The distinctive voice of Paul Rodgers has been heard on some of the best rock albums released over the years from Free to Bad Company to The Firm to Queen. Not surprisingly, he’s made many friends along the way. So, in July 1994, Rodgers put together an all-star band of his friends to support his 1993 Grammy nominated Muddy Water Blues: A Tribute to Muddy Waters. However, few of the players on that studio release were tapped for Live at Montreux 1994, now on both CD and DVD. Only Queen’s Brian May (guitar), Journey’s Neal Schon (guitar), and Black Country Communion’s Jason Bonham (drums) returned to join the other performers on stage in Montreux. New players included Ian Hatton (guitar), John Smithson (bass), Toto’s Steve Lukather (guitar), and blues musicians Eddie Kirkland, Sherman Robertson, Luther Allison, Robert Lucas and Kenny Neal.

As a result, this concert became something of a paint-by-numbers rock/blues evening with some of the best artists in the business filling in the colors. The first two numbers, “Travelling Man” and “Wishing Well,” are ‘70s arena rock warm-ups. The show really begins with “Louisiana Blues” (the first song taken from the studio record) and “Fire And Water” before the ensemble gets down and Delta-dirty with “Muddy Water Blues,” which had been recorded in both electric and acoustic versions for the tribute CD. Other live performances taken from the studio work include Willie Dixon’s “I’m Ready” and a shuffle version of Sonny Boy Williamson’s “Good Morning Little School Girl” featuring May. While he had been on the Muddy Waters album, Beck is only present in spirit with “Let Me Love You Baby.” This track retains the same arrangement heard on Beck’s 1968 Truth LP.

Ian McLagan's first solo album 'Troublemaker' got critical raves and even made the charts when it was released in 1979. This collection has been re-mastered with seven extra tracks, none of which have ever been heard before on CD.

The album is full of great songs and performances, and features the only released recording of the New Barbarians on 'Truly', a reggae favorite. Ronnie Wood & Keith Richards on guitars, Stanley Clarke on bass, Bobby Keys on Sax, and Zigaboo Modeliste on drums. And in a separate session Ringo Starr played drums on 'Hold On'. Subscribers of Rolling Stone magazine may have noticed an overwhelming amount of promos for their “choose the cover” contest that went on for several months. Out of 16 unsigned bands, The Sheepdogs, with their long hair and soulful guitar driven-folk came out on top. Over one and a half million votes were cast online and this Canuck foursome landed not only the cover of RS issue number 1137 on August 5th, but an even more significant prize, a contract with Atlantic Records.

Before their good fortune and talent won them this amazing opportunity, Sheepdogs were typical struggling artists. Lead singer Ewan Currie told Rolling Stone in their recent interview simply that, “Shit was bleak.” Fortunately their demo was submitted in consideration for the contest, and voila, here there are. The Saskatoon natives have already achieved what many bands could only dream of, appearing on late night shows like Jimmy Fallon and performing at Bonnaroo music festival.

It's rare that an album of outtakes and rejected music not only succeeds, but actually hangs together as a cohesive work in its own right. As the only member of 21st Century Schizoid Band (performing late-1960s/early-1970s-era Crimson repertoire) who wasn't a King Crimson alum, Jakko M. Jakszyk not only handled the daunting challenge of Crimson co-founder Robert Fripp's guitar parts, but lead vocals as well. Jakszyk emerged as a confident and compelling leader on The Bruised Romantic Glee Club (Iceni, 2006), a double-disc set filled with autobiographical confessions of a progressive bent, and imaginative tributes to seminal groups from Jakszyk's formative years.

With Bruised now back in print with a remixed title track, the independently released Waves Sweep the Sand collects fifteen original songs and two covers, with Jakszyk's liners positioning the material against Bruised. Familiarity with Bruised may be an advantage, but it's absolutely unnecessary in order to enjoy Waves which, with Jakszyk's careful sequencing, remains a compelling and independent piece of work.

The Mods - The Mods 1966's Singles

The 1960's band from Toledo, Ohio that billed themselves, as The Mods did not start out using the name The Mods when they first formed a band. The original members of the band that was formed in Toledo, Ohio had several other names before they took on the name The Mods. The band was originally founded by two brothers; Terry Smith and his younger brother Larry Smith along with and their best friend, Larry Music. I know what you are saying, (Larry Music) yes, Music was his real last name... great name to have if you are going to be in a band playing music. The three teenagers first became interested in forming a band in 1963 shortly after the Beatles took America by storm.

As young boys, the Smith brothers, Terry (age 12) and his younger brother Larry (age 10), both learned to play guitar on their own after their father showed them how to make a few basic chords on their father's guitar. Their father was very musically inclined and had the ability to play several musical instruments, as did Smith boy's uncle's and grandfather. So I guess it must have been in the genes for the Smith brothers to play musical instruments too. The Smith brothers did inherit the ability to play music by ear on the guitar, and both eventually learned to play several other musical instruments between them. Terry Smith ended up teaching the brother's friend, Larry Music to play guitar in 1962.

A single copy of The Mods 1966 45 RPM recording (original label shown above), sold on an Ebay auction on May 2, 2005 for the astounding price of $504.00 (USD) to a bidder from the United Kingdom. We sold a lot of these in 1966 at our concerts for the price of $1.00 (one dollar) per record. Since then, in late 2007 one dozen mint copies were discovered by someone in Toledo, Ohio (our old hometown). The records were put up for auction by Frogtown books on Ebay and auctioned off one record at a time. After all records were sold on Ebay and the dust settled the records had fetched and average price of between $500 to $550 per record; and ending up netting over six thousand USA dollars to the owner of the auction. Hearing that makes me wish I that I had bought a box of them (30 records to a box in 1966) and then I could have stashed them in a safe place until now and had my own auction.

Eddy Shaver, who died of an overdose on December 31, 2000, at the age of 38, was a rare guitar talent. (He was planning to begin recording his first solo album on January 2, 2001.) Under the moniker Shaver, he and his father, outlaw singer/songwriter legend Billy Joe Shaver, cut a series of albums during the '90s that found usually level-headed (even jaded) critics tossing around the word masterpiece. Shaver has also played on records by Guy Clark, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson, and toured with Dwight Yoakam. Mostly, however, he is remembered for his groundbreaking work with his father.

Theirs was not an easily accepted pairing, however; early on, folks found Billy Joe Shaver's bruised hillbilly vocals and modern cowboy poetry to be an odd fit for Eddy's searing rock guitar virtuosity. And the blood alliance would push them between the cracks of country and rock to a position of much critical acclaim but little commercial success - and certainly no peers.

A devastating earthquake rips through the city leaving tens of thousands dead and hundreds of thousands homeless. No, I’m not writing about any one of the natural disasters to have plagued our planet over the last year or so. Sadly, history has a way of repeating itself and Mother Nature is one cruel bitch.

The year was 1988 and a 6.9 magnitude earthquake tore through Armenia. International charity campaigner, Jon Dee was there working at getting coverage of the devastation and he was so horrified by what he saw (particularly the images of people carrying child size coffins) that he felt compelled todo something and hence, “Smoke On The Water-The Metropolis Sessions” was born. It was to be a reworking of the Deep Purple classic, a song that is almost instilled into our brains at birth and certainly one that any aspiring guitarist worth his weight will work through at some point.

The list of collaborators, i.e. the members of the super group reads like a veritable who’s who of classic and heavy rock. Consider: Dave Gilmour, Brian May, Ian Gillan, Tony Iommi, Paul Rodgers, Bruce Dickinson, Ritchie Blackmore, Chris Squire, Alex Lifeson, Keith Emerson, Geoff Beauchamp, Roger Taylor, Geoff Downes and Bryan Adams. Perhaps Messer Gillan put it best when he admitted that the project had given him the opportunity to meet his hero (May) and the fact he seemed a little start struck shows it can happen to the best of us!

Mike Gibbins spent a decade, from 1965 through 1975, as the drummer for the Iveys and their better-known successor group, Badfinger - that alone made him one of the more visible musicians to emerge from what might be called the British Invasion's "third wave," out of the orbit of the Beatles' Apple Records. He was one of two members of the group left behind following a pair of tragic suicides, and he led reorganized versions of "Badfinger" into the 1980s and beyond, often in competition with fellow surviving member Joey Molland. Born Michael George Gibbins in Swansea, Wales, in 1949, he grew up in a crowded household that included six older sisters - he later claimed he took up drumming just so he could be heard. Actually, he was a natural drummer, responding to rhythms and generating them on anything that came into his hands, enough so that his father got him his first drum kit when Mike was 14. He passed through various local groups, including the Planets, the Club Four, and the Misfits, over the next few years.

Journeyman drummer Steve Holley has provided some of the most solid and creative beats for Paul McCartney, Kiki Dee, Joe Cocker, Julian Lennon, Ian Hunter over the years, and though he recorded a couple of tracks in the U.K. in January of 1980 (included here), those beats never got the opportunity to be heard backing him up until the release of The Reluctant Dog, a 13-track collection of melodies and feelings that are well worth the wait. For those put off by the manufactured pop that Phil Collins runs off the assembly line, The Reluctant Dog will provide much satisfaction. Produced by Holley and bassist/guitarist Keith Lentin, the album is chock-full of surprises -- the short and sweet instrumental "Punta del Este (with daughter Amanda Holley on flute) and a bubbling Genesis-like "Entertain You" to mention just two. Holley (also listed in many credits over the years as Holly without the "e") delivers splashes of Beatles on one of the early tracks, "For Better or for Worse," which resembles the Fab Four's "Free as a Bird" phase, though recorded 15 years before that classic hit the Top Ten. This early recording features Holley on vocals, glockenspiel, piano, and drums, with Nick Pearson's electric guitar and Phil Curtis on bass. The drummer was concerned about adding the two decade-old tracks into this mix, but they bring much to the set.

"Living for Today," the other number from the British sessions, features Wings bandmate Denny Laine on harmony vocals and, with all due respect to Laine (who has numerous classics on his solo recordings), this particular tune would have fit on a Wings album much better than the items Laine chose to contribute to Paul McCartney's band. The keyboards sound accordion-like, an instrument that Sean Fleming brings to the very next track, "Da Da Da, Dee Dee Dee." If it had the chance, "Just Say Goodbye" might have been the perfect sequel to Julian Lennon's biggest hit, "Too Late for Goodbyes," with a slower tempo and darker tones. It's one of the best of many superior tracks. As Joey Molland's This Way Up and Ian McLagan's Best of British were powerful statements by sidemen who were involved in greatness, Steve Holley's work here also demands attention. Titles like "She Gives to Me" and "What Are You Looking For?" would have certainly made noise in another time. Let's hope this material finds the audience it deserves and doesn't go the way of many a Kiki Dee album -- brilliant work lost in the shuffle that is this business of music. The Angel Air label is intent on releasing all things related to Mott the Hoople and Ian Hunter, and The Reluctant Dog is a nice addition to the collection, resplendent in its colorful eight-page booklet containing lyrics, credits, and photos. It's more than an impressive first album and one that should have seen the light of day long before 2003. "Everything Ends Sometime" and "Living for Today" also deserve mention.

George Terry is an American blues rock and rock and roll guitarist most known for his live and studio work with Eric Clapton during the 1970s and studio work with a long list of artists. Prior to joining Clapton's band, George was already a well-known South Florida guitarist and session musician and had played with several notable bands including "GAME" who released two albums in 1970 and 1971. George was the featured lead guitarist, bassist, and writer of several tunes on both.

Clapton recorded three of Terry's songs, "Mainline Florida", "Lay Down Sally", "Don't Blame Me". Terry was a member of Clapton's studio and touring band until 1979 when it was dissolved.

Humble Pie’s The Atlanta Years could just as well be called Steve Marriott, The Atlanta Years, as he is the driving force behind these recordings. The singer/songwriter/guitarist had relocated to the Peach State in the 1980s and re-formed Humble Pie once again after the lineup (Marriott, guitarist Bobby Tench, bassist Anthony Jones and drummer Jerry Shirley) from an earlier re-formed Pie called it quits in 1981.

That said, The Atlanta Years is worth investigating. Nine studio cuts are appended with seven live performances from Marriott’s Atlanta days. The studio sides find Marriott still capable of delivering the bluesy rock that he built his name on. His voice is still full of raspy splendor on “Heartbreaker,” a funky organ-driven R&B shuffle, and laced with whiskey on “Ain’t You Glad (New York Can’t Talk).” The Cockney swagger of “Poor Man’s Rich Man” is classic Marriott, and a bridge between his time with the Small Faces and Humble Pie. The songs have a work-in-progress feel, but are still developed enough to stand on their own. The live cuts are sweaty slices of Marriott in his element. Listen as he takes the crowd through the 15-minute assault of “I Don’t Need No Doctor” or the cranky “Hallelujah I Love Her So,” full of tight guitar licks and double entendres.

Though Marriott lived the rock star life, he was virtually destitute for years. A very personal interview with ex-wife Pam Stephens reveals the couple’s daily struggles of just having enough to eat, all the while being holed up in a Southern mansion. Marriott was a challenging but engaging personality, enough so to keep fans and hangers-on coming back for more until the larger-than-life musician’s life was cut down by a house fire in 1991. Just as talk of a reunion with original Humble Pie mate Peter Frampton was surfacing, Marriott was taken away. In Atlanta, Marriott sang “Trouble You Can’t Fool Me,” and he was singing from experience.

Magic is a live Jorma Kaukonen album containing performances of acoustic songs from Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna albums recorded during his solo tour of 1984. After a brief reunion tour in 1983 with Hot Tuna, Jorma had continued to play solo and eventually landed a contract with Relix Records. In addition to releasing Kaukonen's new solo recordings, Relix also released live Hot Tuna recordings from the 70s, with the albums Splashdown and Historic Live Tuna. In 1995, Michael Falzarano remastered the album and produced a new version that Relix released as the CD Magic Two.

For his self-titled 1985 album, former Doors guitarist Robby (or Robbie) Krieger posed on the front cover in the company of three fellow musicians and even printed their names there, such that you might say the title was "Robby Krieger with Arthur Barrow, Bruce Gary, and Don Preston." Two of those musicians, former Mothers of Invention keyboard player Preston and bass player Barrow, also figured in the songwriting credits, adding to the sense that, whatever name was out front, this album was a band effort. And so it came across, each musician getting solos in the often complex jazz-rock fusion arrangements.

Krieger may have been the first among equals, but these original tunes were given band arrangements in which everyone got his say. Running close to 15 minutes, the closing track, Barrow and Krieger's "Noisuf," was the most outside in jazz terms, essentially serving as a showcase for the explorations of the various musicians, which even included Krieger's quote from "My Sharona." But that only made it the most extended of the spacy instrumentals that made up the record. Krieger's fans from the Doors might have been less comfortable with the results than Preston's from the Mothers, but the album was a typical fusion effort.

The band is formed in Newcastle by Pat Rafferty and Tony Wadsworth. First gig is the University Fine Art Dept Xmas Party. Still without a name, inspiration comes from Bogart's “Key Largo” - “I’m looking for a couple of young bucks in fancy shirts who busted out of prison”.

Band is instantly popular. John Glynn moves to London and joins proto punks ‘X Ray Spex’. His replacement is Archie Brown, sax player and songwriter with local band ‘Pylon’. Band starts playing Monday nights at the “Cooperage” which is sold out for the next two years. Summer ’77 Tim Wilder is replaced by Seb Shelton.

Former Jimi Hendrix Experience bassist Noel Redding's second attempt to lead a group (following Fat Mattress), the Noel Redding Band were more of a cooperative effort than their name would suggest. Redding may have been the organizing principal behind the unit, but David Clarke wrote or co-wrote almost all the material as well as singing lead vocals, while Eric Bell played lead guitar. Whoever dominated the band, however, their debut LP, Clonakilty Cowboys, was very much a British rock album of its time. There were hints here of the Faces and there of Mott the Hoople in a mainstream rock sound that seemed utterly familiar in the mid-'70s, but didn't much remind you of Redding's work with Hendrix. When Bell took off on his solo, for example, at the end of "Eight Nights a Week" (a paean to being a rock & roll star), his high-pitched work was out of Rock Guitar 101, but it had none of Hendrix's inventiveness. Maybe it's not fair to make such a comparison, but one falls into comparisons in discussing the music because it had little distinctive character of its own. As singers, neither Clarke nor Redding made it out of the rusty-voiced ranks of generic rock vocalists. Clonakilty Cowboys didn't make any noise on the charts and it didn't deserve to. Redding and company had made a fairly typical album for their time, but hadn't done anything that distinguished them from the pack.

Noel Redding emphasized his primacy in the band named after him on their second album, Blowin', putting close-up photographs of himself alone on the front and back covers, albeit with humorous intention. (He was pictured on the front blowing up a big bubblegum bubble and on the back with the burst bubble stuck to his nose.) He also took over production duties on the record and wrote a couple of songs on his own. But this was still a group effort on which lead singer and primary songwriter David Clarke took a prominent, if not dominant, role. The album rocked harder than its predecessor, Clonakilty Cowboys, and, recorded largely in the U.S., seemed to have more of an American, on-the-road feel, beginning with its opening track, "Back on the Road Again." But the Noel Redding Band were still a faceless, nearly generic rock group with a rusty-voiced singer mouthing rock & roll clichés and a standard-issue guitarist. Blowin' didn't sell any better than Clonakilty Cowboys had, and that was about the end of the Noel Redding Band.

Buddy Miles lançou pelo selo casablanca (aquele dos discos do KISS) dois álbuns: More Miles Per Gallon, de 1975, que já foi postado AQUI e este, de 1976. Bicentennial Gathering Of The Tribes é praticamente o oposto do primeiro. Sumiram os sintetizadores (embora ainda se ouça um ou outro traço desse instrumento (?) horrivel) e sumiram as letras sem sentindo. A impressão que se tem é que nem mesmo Buddy ficou satisfeito com o resultado de "More Miles" e resolveu mudar tudo. Esse disco é obrigatório para os fans do Buddy Miles "hardcore". Um disco mais centrado em bateria-baixo-harmmond do que em sintetizadores.

Lançado no ano em que o Estados Unidos comemoravam o bicentenário de sua independência, Buddy incluiu nos encartes (ah, que saudade dos encartes!) frase de JFK sobre os indios americanos "Quando negligenciamos o passado heróico do índio americano, enfraquecemos nosso próprio patrimônio". Para muitos, a capa faz também uma homenagem a Hendrix, que tinha antepassados indígenas.

As most Who fans already know, Pete Townshend's next project after finishing TOMMY was to be a wildly ambitious multi-media event-including an album, a concert, and a movie - called LIFEHOUSE, with a storyline that was a combination of sci-fi and Eastern mysticism. The project eventually collapsed, partly due to early '70s technical limitations, but some of the songs later surfaced on official Who albums (principally WHO'S NEXT) and on several widely circulated Townshend bootlegs.

LIFEHOUSE ELEMENTS (an abridged version of a 6-CD set for sale on Townshend's website), collects various versions of the most important songs. Some are new, such as an astounding techno demolition of Who Are You, and a lovely acoustic guitar/string orchestra remake of Behind Blue Eyes, while some are old, including occasionally unfamiliar mixes of Townshend's one-man band demos of Pure and Easy, and Won't Get Fooled Again. Almost everything here is interesting on some level, and it goes without saying that this is an absolute must-have for Who fans.

Lead vocalist Roger Daltrey from The Who took a chance on a rare solo tour, from which this King Biscuit Flower Hour recording is derived. Daltrey had grown tired of Pete Townshend taking his time to resurrect The Who, and as a result, in 1985 Daltrey decided he would take his own project on the road.

The results are mixed. Although Daltrey had many excellent solo hits such as "Giving It All Away" (mostly written by ex-Argent guitarist, Russ Ballard), the majority of his material here is from 1985's Under a Raging Moon, which was the solo album Daltrey wrote in memory of the late Keith Moon.

This album is a snapshot of a particular period in the life of a somewhat eccentric but extraordinarily talented musician.

One of many albums Leon Russell released on his own Leon Russell Records in the new millennium, Bad Country contains a selection of 12 original songs by Russell. As the title lightly implies, this is indeed a country album, but it's not bad - either in its quality or its sound, as the music is perfectly pleasant. There's not a lot of raunch here - it's a clean, slightly stiff production, sounding as if it has been stitched together with MIDI, as there's no breathing room in the rhythms and a slight steely ping to his keyboards. The only soul here comes from Russell's signature drawl, which is still in good shape, and while the songs here are hardly his best, they're nice showcases for Russell as an endearingly lazy country-rock stylist. To be sure, this is just for the fans - and it's even kind of marginal on that level - but if it doesn't have much that's compelling, it's not hard to enjoy in passing, either.

In September of 1971, John Lennon and Yoko Ono relocated to Greenwich Village in New York City and found themselves at the epicenter of political activism. They soon became friends with high profile activists Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman and began making public appearances protesting the Vietnam War and the imprisonment of Angela Davis and John Sinclair. Fearing Lennon's influence and more specifically, that he had the ability to humiliate President Richard Nixon, the FBI began investigating, documenting John and Yoko's every move in an effort to find grounds on which to deport him. It was against this highly charged political backdrop that John and Yoko began recording their album, Sometime In New York City, with an agenda to protest against the social injustices they observed in the United States. With Phil Spector producing and accompanied by members of the Plastic Ono Band and Elephant's Memory, the album was completed in March of 1972 and remains the most overtly political recordings Lennon ever recorded.

At the request of their friend Geraldo Rivera, shortly after the album was released, Lennon agreed to headline two charity concerts to benefit the Willowbrook Home, a facility for learning disabled children. Also featuring Sha Na Na, Roberta Flack, and Stevie Wonder, the event was called "One To One," and New York mayor John Lindsay declared the date, "One To One Day." Both concerts were filmed and recorded, with excerpts of the evening show broadcast on ABC Television and performances from the afternoon show eventually compiled for release in 1986 as the live album and home video releases Live In New York City. Not only would these performances go down in history as one of the few times John and Yoko ever performed material from the Sometimes In New York City album, but they would unfortunately prove to be John Lennon's last and only full-length public concerts following the breakup of The Beatles.

Born in Mississippi in 1939, Bramlett came to Los Angeles in the 1960s and played guitar in the house band for the TV pop show Shindig.With his then- wife Bonnie Lynn he formed the short-lived Southernblues-rock band Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. The band toured asthe opening act for Blind Faith, the supergroup that featured Britishguitarist Clapton. After Bramlett and his first wife divorced in theearly '70s, they parted professionally as well, and he faded from thespotlight.

Reborn is a brilliant album by an erratic and often misdirected artist. It is, actually, quite refreshing in its simplicity, with Laine's vocals surprisingly in good shape. In the late '80s and early '90s, the founding member of the Moody Blues who should never have left Wings had little of his great voice left.

He was performing in New England doing covers of previous glories, talking about a musical opera he was writing, and raising a daughter with his girlfriend Helen Grant, daughter of the late Peter Grant, manager of Led Zeppelin. Hearing "Hard Labor" on this disc definitely shows the rebirth the title track acknowledges. The voice is more flawed here than on other tracks, but it works, like a drunken Steve Marriott might sound today had he lived, raspy and sincere. Brian Hines, in his Denny Laine persona, crams choruses he was so good at creating into compact little tunes with great melodies. "Misty Mountain" is a good example - this pop tune dives right into that sound Laine helped establish.What a shame he didn't come up with songs like this when Paul McCartney generously gave him room to express himself on Wings albums.

Pete Townshend and the Deep End Band played live for two benefit outings - November 1 and 2, 1985 at the Brixton Academy - to help support Townshend's own "Double O' Charities. The performances are excerpted and were used in a made-for-home-video, also called Pete Townshend's Deep End Live!. However, significant interest in the project would ultimately yield a 10-song LP which was issued to retail a few months later. Townshend is backed by an ensemble that includes a core band of John "Rabbit" Bundrick, Chucho Merchán, Simon Philips and David Gilmour.

This is THE COMPLET SHOW. The double CD set presents many Who and Solo tracks, including some rare performances of tracks from the White City album, as well as covers of fifties and sixties classics.

Esse é o primeiro disco solo do ex-guitarrista do Doors. Não há nada nesse disco que lembre algo que houvera sido feito anteriormente por Krieger. Nada de rock, nada de blues e, principalmente, nada de Doors. Esse disco passeia entre um jazz sem inspiração e algo entre um funk "light" e um pop sem nenhuma consequência.

É claro que por se tratar de Krieger há um ou outro lampejo de sua extrema qualidade, mas é pouco - muito pouco - em se tratando de um dos maiores guitarrista que o mundo já assistiu.

Fiz o up desse disco para atender a um amigo que o pediu em um fórum e não nego que hesitei em postá-lo aqui (até por ele depor contra o nome do blog :)), mas, pela dificuldade em encontrá-lo na rede, resolvi disponibilizá-lo a todos.

Angel In Disguise contains 11 new Leon Russell songs. Russell's prodigious discography proves his influence and talent since he left Lawton, Oklahoma, in his teens.

"Sweet Mimi", a rollicking opener, employs many of the same musical elements--mercurial guitar, cosmic keyboards and a strong beat--Russell mastered over the last 40 years. "How Can This Be Love" contends as a hybrid R & B song bred with synthesized keyboards. The title track, a swinging R & B number, calls to mind Tony Joe White.

These songs - such as "Lovin' On My Mind" - begin to take on a psychedelic-swamp sound with gospel back up vocalists. These compositions represent The Master of Space and Time in 2007.

"Come For You" could easily pass for a Stevie Wonder funk song until you hear Russell's inimitable voice. "Black N Blue" operates with unrestrained R & B, funk and Russell's signature rock and roll piano.

"All Through The Night", a ballad, calls to mind a sonic landscape of Russell's fine album Will O the Wisp. "Honky Tonk Eyes" proves there's still a spring in Russell's 65-year-old step in an up-tempo ditty that revisits Jerry Lee Lewis' incandescent piano work. "Dyess Colony" sounds like cowboy swing mixed with the blues and a galloping keyboard to birth a toe-tapping tale.

One of many self-recorded and self-released albums Russell kicked out in the new millennium, this sequenced and sprightly offering clearly betrays its origins as a computerized creation. As careful as the production sounds, the compositions often seem as if Russell just set up and started playing, giving the tracks their titles afterward. Still, Russell remains a fluid, engaging player, and devoted Leon Russell fans might enjoy putting this on as background music.

Dean Rees is best known for his Hammond work with classic British rockers Humble Pie, as well as Stray, Del Bromham and the Devils and 17Black. Before that, dues were paid in the usual list of local groupings, most notably Colour Sargeant and Grand Society with Toby Marriott. As a featured artist at all annual installments of the Small Faces convention in London, Rees has shared the stage with Glen Matlock, Clem Clempson, Chris Farlow and Steve Ellis.

He's also become known as a "go-to guy" for several other high-profile special events. One of those was a most memorable stop at London's historic Royal Albert Hall for the Ronnie Lane memorial concert (featuring Pete Townshend and Ronnie Wood). Dean was also honored to play at the Steve Marriott memorial concert (feat Noel Gallagher, Humble Pie, Kenney Jones, Ian McLagen, Bobby Tench, Johnny Warman, Peter Frampton, et al). His contribution to the ModAid CD and video was added to those of Ronnie Wood, Mark Joseph and many other popular mod-influenced musos.

In 2003 Dean rejoined his good friend and mentor Greg Ridley, bassist, vocalist, and founding member of Humble Pie. First billed as Greg Ridley's Humble Pie, the new five piece was enthusiastically received by fans and critics alike at debut gigs in London. The US was then targeted with a club tour of the south & west, but sadly it wasn't to be as in early November Greg suddenly fell ill and then passed away later that month. Dean soon jumped into two projects that would be fitting and lasting tributes to Greg Ridley. A collaboration with Bad Company guitarist Dave "Bucket" Colwell on an unfinished song, co-written by Greg, yielded a track that was added to the Greg Ridley Anthology (2004 AngelAir Records). "Learn to Live" also featured vocals by Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) and Todd Sucherman (Styx) on drums.

A memorial concert in 2004 saw Dean reform Greg Ridley's short-lived band from the year before. The Greg Ridley Band payed a rollicking, butt-kicking tribute to their fallen friend at "The Party For Greg" in London. The event also featured great performances by Spooky Tooth's Mike Kellie and Luther Grosvenor (aka Arial Bender of Mott The Hoople), Bucket Colwell (Bad Company, Humble Pie), Paul Geurin (The Quireboys), Mollie Marriott and many others.

In May of 2006 Dean Rees released his first solo CD "Sweet Felicity Arkwright", an offering that not only rocks, but rhythms, blues and rolls with funkn' soul. You'll hear Dean's heaviest influences, which are rooted in the beginnings of Classic Brit Rock, yet throughout Arkwright are pepperings of American soul, blues and gospel.

Ten new Dean Rees Songs co-produced by Dean and his long-time collaborator and friend Karl Randall.

Dean is joined on Sweet Felicity Arkwright by DR Band members Karl Randall (drums), Del Bromham (guitars), Stu Uren (bass), Mollie Marriott (vocals) and Lee Devine (vocals). Two of those names will be familiar to classic rock fans as Del Bromham is the founder and frontman of the veteran British rock band Stray and Mollie Marriott is the daughter of the legendary leader of Humble Pie, Steve Marriott. Also featured on Arkwright are special guest artists and friends Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake, etc), Tony Rolfe, Stefan John, Toby Marriott (Steve's son), James Coello, Ian Page, Clive Hewsen and Stuart Ikin
